Thou asked me once how could thy nights
Be worth the solar beams
What thou knew not is that for me
More precious are thy dreams
And that while all Equestria lieth
In sleep and lullaby
I gaze the shadows o'er the moon
Imagining thee nigh
Still all the jewels of the night
Reflect thine eyes on me
And from these barely glowing cliffs
My thought flies back to thee,
Thou noble Princess of the Night,
Thou dreamers' gentle Muse;
Too high for ponies to remember
Yet too blest to lose…
You're gone, and yet the Moon still rose
Tonight, but I can spot
Nopony staring at her light,
Like she were shining not.
I know she lacks thy glow, she lacks
Thine unconditioned love
For everyone who quietly walks
Watching the night thou wove
And though they may not miss thee now
The way I sorely do
They shall reckon what they have lost
And finally shall rue.
Wilt thou forget, wilt thou forgive,
Will ever cease thy rage?
Wilt thou return, will Canterlot
Relive its golden age?
And will thy sister ever talk
And smile to thee again?
Doth she regret, won't she repent?
Who is the one to blame?
Just know you're not alone, I'll wait
For thee one thousand years
If thus it takes, and coming back
You'll meet my words and tears.

Some MLP poetry! (Actually my very first mlp-related work)
I wondered how many poems I would find dedicated to Luna and, whoa, they're more than I'd expected!
This poem was written by the unicorn Moongrazer, a quite intimate Luna's penfriend, a little time after her banishment in the Moon; he hopes in fact that his favourite princess will someday read those verses, no matter how long will it take to her to come back.
I think Moongrazer is somehow solitary for being a pony, but he's a poet after all...
As regards the poem, I suppose that in Canterlot the spoken language was something like old english, since that is how Luna speaks in S2-E4, so I adopted such style for Moongrazer's composition.
Also, please forgive any possible lessical/orthographic mistake: English is not my native language, so there may be plenty of them!
